Image Description

The image shows cystitis glandularis, intestinal type in the lamina propria and the usual (typical) type at the surface of a bladder biopsy. The intestinal type of cystitis glandularis consists of mucin-secreting goblet cells and resembles colonic mucosa. When this change is diffuse, it is called intestinal metaplasia.
