Image Description
Amyloidosis of the bladder. High power view showing afibrillar, eosinophilic material in the lamina propria. A few foreign body giant cells and fibroblasts are seen within and around the deposits. Isolated urinary tract amyloidosis is exceedingly rare. Bladder involvement is usually seen in the setting of systemic amyloidosis. This patient had no evidence of systemic disease. Over a 10-year period, he underwent multiple resections for recurrent lesions.
