Image Description

Intestinal metaplasia in the bladder biopsy from a paraplegic patient with neurogenic bladder. Chronic catheter usage in such patients irritates the bladder wall and can cause this change. Intestinal metaplasia is seen in chronically irritated bladders usually in the setting of calculi, chronic urinary tract infections, in-dwelling catheters, and neurogenic bladders.
