Image Description

Anastomosing Hemangioma of Testis:: Microscopically, many subtypes of hemangiomas have been described in the testis, including epithelioid, anastomosing, capillary, and cavernous types.

At low magnification, hemangiomas show lobular architecture. There are anastomosing sinusoidal vascular channels with scattered hobnail endothelial cells. The vascular spaces may show infiltrative pattern and entrap seminiferous tubules potentially creating confusion with angiosarcoma. However, cytologic atypia is absent and mitotic activity is not increased.

This image is a low magnification view of anastomosing hemangioma (see clinical history and gross in previous image). Atrophic seminiferous tubules are present in the bottom of the image. Note the thick fibrous capsule. The top of the image shows anastomosing vascular channels lined by flattened endothelium.
