Image Description

In the solid pattern of embryonal carcinoma, the tumor cells are arranged in diffuse sheets which may be punctuated by areas of eosinophilic coagulative necrosis. The cells have abundant cytoplasm, large vesicular nuclei and prominent nucleoli. Karyorhectic debris, increased mitotic activity and atypical mitoses are commonly found. Unlike in seminoma, the cytoplasmic borders are indistinct.
