Image Description

Intratubular embryonal carcinoma is sometimes seen at the periphery of the main tumor mass. The tubules are filled with highly malignant cells identical to the invasive embryonal carcinoma cells. Central comedonecrosis is usually present. The necrotic foci may undergo dystrophic calcification. In the event of regression of the germ cell tumor, such intratubular calcifications are a very helpful diagnostic feature.
