Immunoreactivity for Placenta-like Alkaline Phosphatase (PLAP) with cytoplasmic membrane staining and some cytoplasmic staining is a quite sensitive and a specific marker for germ cell neoplasia in situ (GCNIS). Normal germ cells and Sertoli cells are negative for PLAP.
