Image Description

This image shows a small focus of residual prostate cancer in a post-cryotherapy prostate biopsy. Note the absence of normal architectural elements in the specimen. All six cores were largely composed of fibrotic or hyalinized tissue devoid of prostatic acini, except one focus where cancer was present. Foci of dystrophic calcification, hemosiderin-laden macrophages, and non-specific chronic inflammation were also seen.
