Image Description

Malignant tumors of prostatic basal cells have been referred to by a variety of terms including, adenoid cystic carcinoma, adenoid basal cell tumor, basaloid carcinoma, and basal cell carcinoma. Most cases shows a variety of morphologic patterns. This image shows tubular structures and solid nests of tumor cells with peripheral palisading and is classified as basal cell carcinoma. Other patterns include adenoid cystic-like pattern and solid nests with comedonecrosis.
