Image Description

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (also known as nodular hyperplasia) causing obstructive urinary symptoms is an extremely common urologic condition afflicting men as they age. This photograph showing median lobe enlargement is from an autopsy case. The hyperplastic prostatic tissue is projecting into the bladder at the neck region causing a ball-valve effect.
