Image Description
Prognosis: The prognosis of unilateral kidney dysplasia with syndromic malformations depends upon presence of other anomalies that may be more severe and dominate the clinical picture. Sporadic unilateral multicystic dysplastic kidney has a good prognosis. Patients do well with conservative management to treat hypertension and prevent infections. Almost one-third of cases undergo spontaneous involution by the age of 30 months. At 10-15 years of age, spontaneous involution occurs in about 60% of cases. Complete involution is less likely if the kidney is larger than 5 cm.
