Image Description
Multicystic Kidney Dysplasia (MKD): Islands of metaplastic cartilage are seen in the thinned renal cortex in about 30% of cases. They are not required for the diagnosis of MKD. However, collars of poorly-differentiated smooth muscle cells around primitive ducts are always present and are required for the diagnosis of renal dysplasia.
