Several architectural patterns are seen in this example of clear cell renal cell carcinoma. In the center of the image is the acinar pattern, and surrounding these structures are small nests and tubules of tumor cells. The nuclei at this magnification are uniform and small with inconspicuous nucleoli and would be Fuhrman grade 1 or 2; distinguishing between grade 1 and 2 requires higher magnification to evaluate nuclear size.
