Image Description
Epithelioid Leiomyosarcoma of Kidney: The patient was a middle-aged female who presented with gross hematuria. CT abdomen revealed a large renal mass. Radical nephrectomy was performed. The specimen showed a 15 cm mass replacing most of the kidney. It had a lobulated, pale-gray cut surface with yellow-green areas of necrosis. Microscopically, the tumor shows epithelioid cells arranged in clusters, nests, trabeculae and solid sheets. Immunohistochemical profile was as follows: POSITIVE for SMA, MSA, desmin, and vimentin; NEGATIVE for pankeratin, EMA, S100, chromogranin, synaptophysin, and CD10.
