Image Description

Renal Lymphoma - Types: Most renal lymphomas are of B lineage and include both low- and high-grade types. Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and its variants are the most common type of renal lymphoma. Others include MALT lymphoma, Burkitt lymphoma, follicular lymphoma, lymphoblastic lymphoma, anaplastic large cell lymphoma and Hodgkin lymphoma. In children, Burkitt lymphoma and lymphoblastic lymphoma are more commonly seen. T-cell lymphomas are exceedingly rare in the kidneys. This autopsy specimen photograph of a DLBCL shows tumor producing thick plaques that encase both kidneys without infiltrating them.
