Well-differentiated Neuroendocrine Tumor (Carcinoid)

Type 2 neuroendocrine tumors result from hypergastrinemia in the setting of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. They may also be seen in MEN-I syndrome. They typically form mucosal nodules with tightly packed trabeculae and acini. This is in contrast to the tumor pictured above, which contains dense fibrous septae.
