Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma of Stomach
Image Description
Partial gastrectomy specimen showing a diffuse large B-cell lymphoma which presented as a 5.8 cm ulcerated mass in a 58 y/o male. Vague abdominal pain and weight loss were the presenting symptoms. Many cases mimic gastritis or benign peptic ulcer clinically. Primary gastric lymphomas make up about 10% of all gastric malignancies. Most of these tumors are non-Hodgkin lymphomas, usually of B-cell type. A significant proportion of high-grade (large cell) lymphomas of the stomach evolve from MALT lymphomas. Some cases are seen in a background of immunocompromised state or inflammatory bowel disease.
