Image Description

Gastrointestinal stromal tumor is the most common mesenchymal tumor of the abdomen. More than 50% of cases involve the stomach. Majority of the patients are in their sixth decade of life. Rare cases may occur in children and some of these form part of Carney triad (gastric GIST, paraganglioma, and pulmonary chondroma). The tumor in this image is solitary, well-circumscribed, and fleshy.
