Image Description

Adenosquamous and pure squamous cell carcinomas of the stomach are exceedingly rare and make up less than 1% of all gastric cancers. The tumors involving the lower end of the esophagus are treated as esophageal primaries with gastric extension. The image shows intimate admixture of squamous and glandular components. The prognosis depends upon the degree of differentiation of the glandular component.
