Image Description

Prognosis: Pancreatoblastoma is an indolent tumor. The prognosis is favorable if it is resected before metastases have occurred. The overall cure rate is about 50%.

The 5-yr survival rate in resectable tumors is 65%. The recurrence rate is about 20% and it usually occurs within 2 years of resection. The prognosis is better in children (< 16 yrs. old) since they present at earlier stages and have well-circumscribed tumors.

The image shows a large squamoid nest surrounded by sheet of bland monomorphic cells. Many of the squamous cell nuclei are optically clear due to accumulation of biotin.
