Image Description

Gastric-type make up almost 70% of all intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMNs) of pancreas and usually involve branch ducts. They are lined by tall columnar mucinous epithelium with basally located nuclei resembling gastric foveolar epithelium. A few goblet cells may be present. The epithelium is arranged as a flat lining or may show papillary architecture. Most are low-grade but may sometimes harbor focal high-grade dysplasia or invasive carcinoma.
