Cirrhosis in Total Parenteral Nutrition
Image Description
In addition to steatosis and steatohepatitis, long-term total parenteral nutrition (TPN) may result in cholestasis, hepatocellular damage, ductular reaction, fibrosis, and cirrhosis. This case of TPN-induced cirrhosis shows a prominent ductular reaction with admixed acute and chronic inflammatory cells. The golden yellow pigment in the upper right corner represents inspissated bile.
