Image Description

The HCC (left) shows a prominent acinar (pseudoglandular) pattern and is well-demarcated from the native liver parenchyma, which shows marked hemosiderin deposition. Long-standing hemochromatosis often results in significant hemosiderin deposition in hepatocytes and increased risk of hepatocarcinogensis. Hemosiderin can be distinguished from bile by positive iron stains.
