Mixed epithelial-mesenchymal hepatoblastoma may show embryonal epithelial-type areas, represented by sheets and clusters of poorly-differentiated tumor cells, admixed with foci of primitive mesenchyme. This histologic type has an intermediate prognosis, which is worse than that of purely fetal-type tumors and better than that of anaplastic or macrotrabecular variants.
