Image Description

The diagnosis of focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) of liver can be accurately done in most cases with contrast-enhanced CT or MRI study. FNH is a hypervascular lesion and shows enhancement during the arterial phase. The non-enhancing central scar is evident in most cases.

This CT with contrast shows a large lesion in the right lobe that is enhancing heterogeneously. The darker non-enhancing area represents the central scar. Case courtesy of Dr Natalie Yang, Radiopaedia.org. From the case rID: 6748
