Liver Hemangioma : Clinical Features
Image Description
Clinical Features: Liver hemangiomas (LH) are usually discovered in adults between 30 and 50 years old. Women are more commonly affected (F:M=5:1). Women often present at a younger age and with larger tumors than men. LH may increase in size during pregnancy or with estrogen administration. They are more common in multiparous than in nulliparous women.
Most LH are small, solitary and asymptomatic and are discovered incidentally on imaging done for other indications, or at autopsy or during laparotomy. Multiple tumors occur in about 10% of patients. They may be associated with cavernous hemangiomas in other organs as a part of von Hippel-Lindau disease. (clinical features continue in the next image)
