This is a total colectomy specimen from a patient with ulcerative proctitis. Ileo-cecal valve can be seen on the upper right. The inflammation is limited to rectal mucosa which shows hyperemia, hemorrhages and longitudinal ulcers. The remainder of the colon is unremarkable. Image copyright: pathorama.ch
