Juvenile polyposis syndrome is an autosomal dominant condition in which the colon is studded with a large number of polyps. This may require colectomy due to severe hemorrhage resulting from polyp ulceration. Patients may also harbor polyps in stomach and small intestine that carry a risk of malignant transformation. The extraintestinal manifestations of juvenile polyposis syndrome include digital clubbing, pulmonary arteriovenous malformation and other congenital malformations.
