Image Description

Intraductal Papillary Neoplasms of the Bile Duct (IPNBs) - Subtypes: Based on the lining epithelium, IPNBs are classified into four subtypes - pancreatobiliary, intestinal, gastric (shown here), and oncocytic - similar to intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm of pancreas. Pancreatobiliary type is more common in North America and European countries, whereas gastric and intestinal type are more common in Asian countries. About 50% of IPNBs contain more than one epithelial type. Such cases are classified based on the predominant cell type.
