Xanthogranulomatous Cholecystitis
Image Description
Xanthogranulomatous Cholecystitis (XC): The inflammation in XC is usually transmural and extends to the serosal surface. Repeated previous bouts of acute cholecystitis may give rise to fibrous serosal adhesions. The inflammatory process frequently involves adjacent organs. This may create confusion with carcinoma clinically, on imaging studies, as well as macroscopically.
