Image Description

Chronic Active Cholecystitis: When acute inflammatory infiltrate is present within the epithelium in a background of chronic cholecystitis, the term chronic active cholecystitis is recommended. This is preferred over subacute cholecystitis or mixed acute and chronic cholecystitis. In this case of chronic active cholecystitis, note the microabscess in the left half of the image.
