Image Description

Chronic Calculous Cholecystitis: Some cases show lymphoid follicles in the background of chronic inflammation. They are usually located superficially in the lamina propria, but they may be found deeper within the gallbladder wall. When lymphoid follicles are abundant, the term follicular cholecystitis is applied (see next image). Follicular cholecystitis is strongly associated with extrahepatic biliary obstruction distal to the gallbladder.
