Image Description

Chronic Calculous Cholecystitis: The appearance of gallbladder depends upon the degree of inflammation and fibrosis. Some gallbladders are distended and enlarged; others become fibrotic and shrunken. Serosal adhesions may be present if there have been previous bouts of acute cholecystitis. The gallbladder wall is usually thickened (as seen here) but may show thinning in some cases. This is a close-up of the previous image.
