Gangrenous Cholecystitis
Image Description
Gangrenous Cholecystitis: This image shows pseudosarcomatous myofibroblastic response in a case of gangrenous cholecystitis. The gallbladder wall was thickened to more than 2 cm. Mucosa (right edge of the image) and the muscularis are completely necrotic and replaced by edema, necrotic debris, hemorrhage, and myofibroblastic response (left third of the image). The atypical hyperchromatic nuclei of myofibroblastic cells can be seen even at this magnification.
