Gangrenous Cholecystitis with Perforation

Gangrenous cholecystitis with perforation: Gangrenous cholecystitis with perforation. Serial sectioning of the gallbladder wall clearly shows the area of perforation. The wall is thickened to more than 1 cm in some areas and appears completely necrotic. The sites of perforation are usually sealed off by the omentum and may lead to the formation of pericholecystic abscess. Leakage of purulent material in the abdomen can cause septicemia.
