Squamous Cell Carcinoma of Esophagus

Photomicrograph of a well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma. Invasion from the distal esophagus into the stomach is not rare. Intraepithelial spread occurs commonly. The surgical margins can be involved a few centimeters away from the tumor due to this. The stage is the most important prognostic factor.
