Image Description

Most cases of adenocarcinoma in Barrett esophagus are quite advanced at the time of diagnosis, often with full-thickness invasion of the wall and lymph node metastases. The treatment of choice is esophagectomy with or without neoadjuvant chemotherapy and radiation. The prognosis is dismal with 5-yr survival rate below 15%.
