Image Description

Loss of cellular cohesion (dehiscence) is a common feature of medullary thyroid carcinomas. This may result in focal pseudopapillary pattern where the fibrovascular areas are surrounded by a cuff of tumor cells with empty space in between. Rare examples of true papillary form of medullary thyroid carcinoma do exist, however.
