Clinical History: Pancreatic tumor in an elderly female. Distal pancreatectomy specimen showed a 6.0 cm well-circumscribed, fleshy tumor in the distal body and tail of the pancreas.
The tumor cells are uniform and arranged in anastomosing trabeculae separated by delicate vascular strands. Synaptophysin and chromogranin were strongly positive. Negative markers included insulin, glucagon, gastrin, somatostatin, and VIP.
