In this example of cystic neuroblastoma arising in the adrenal, the cyst lumen is on the top and it is filled with hemorrhagic fluid. The nests of deeply basophilic cells are neuroblastoma. The next layer out is the adrenal cortex. Finally, the outermost layer enveloping the adrenal cortex is brown fat. This specimen is from a neonate.
