Image Description

The image shows a fairly typical location of a neuroblastoma - above the upper pole of the kidney. The tumor has invaded into and distorted the renal parenchyma. Such tumors, especially if they have biologically unfavorable features, may be difficult to distinguish from blastema-predominant Wilms tumor. A panel of immunohistochemical markers (to be discussed later) usually can sort out the correct diagnosis.
