Image Description

Myelolipoma is a benign lesion that is present entirely within the adrenal and consists of mature adipose tissue with normal bone marrow elements. Most cases are asymptomatic and discovered incidentally (incidentalomas) in imaging studies done for other reasons or at autopsy. In rare cases, the lesions become large enough to be noticed clinically. This case was discovered incidentally in a 77 y/o female. It has a variegated appearance and is surrounded by a thin bright yellow rim of adrenal cortex. Image copyright: pathorama.ch
