Image Description

Hemorrhagic necrosis of the adrenal glands in a neonate. The patient developed disseminated intravascular coagulation as a complication of fulminant streptococcal septicemia. Some cases of massive adrenal hemorrhage in infants may present as abdominal or retroperitoneal mass. In such cases, neuroblastoma must be excluded since they can also undergo massive necrosis.
