Image Description

As the basaloid cells mature, they undergo abrupt keratinization (as seen here). They acquire abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm. The vesicular nuclei are replaced by small hyperchromatic nuclei which are eventually lost. The basaloid cells are replaced by eosinophilic sheets of ghost cells with faint cellular outlines still visible.
