Systemic Lupus Erythematosus : Epidemiology
Image Description
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a complex multisystem disease with cutaneous manifestations and disorders involving renal, neurologic, hematologic, and immunologic systems. The clinical presentation is highly variable. The diagnosis relies on the presence of a combination of clinical, morphologic, and serologic abnormalities that have been defined and established by the American Rheumatology Association. SLE shows strong female predominance (F:M=9:1) and is most commonly seen between 3rd and 5th decades of life.
