Eosinophilic myocarditis shows predominantly perivascular as well as interstitial infiltrates (as seen here) rich in eosinophils. There is minimal damage to the myocytes. The pathogenesis of eosinophilic myocarditis includes both immediate and delayed hypersensitivity reactions. The diagnosis is made on an endomyocardial biopsy. Treatment usually consists of removing the offending drug/agent, immunosuppression with steroids, and treatment of heart failure, if present.
