Image Description
Breast is not a common site for metastases except in widely disseminated tumors. Metastases appear as superficial, multifocal and multinodular masses. The common primary tumors include malignant melanoma, carcinoma of ovary, lung, kidney, and stomach. This photomicrograph shows metastases to breast from prostatic adenocarcinoma in a male patient. In children, the most common malignancy to metastasize (besides hematolymphoid cancers) to breast is alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma.
