Image Description

Granulomatous mastitis may be the end-result of numerous specific infections such as tuberculosis, leprosy, brucellosis, fungal and parasitic infections. In some cases, the cause remains idiopathic. Granulomatous response may also be seen in the vicinity of mammary carcinomas. In this image, the native architecture has been destroyed and a cuff of inflammatory infiltrate surrounds the residual distorted ducts.
