Matrix-producing Breast Carcinoma
Image Description
Small nests of tumor cells, some showing squamous metaplasia, are scattered in chondromyxoid matrix. Matrix-producing metaplastic breast carcinomas are considered to be significantly more aggressive than ductal carcinomas matched for patient age, stage, and tumor grade. They have a high tendency for local as well as distant recurrences despite the low frequency of lymph node metastasis.
