In invasive ductal carcinomas that present clinically, the most frequent finding is a palpable breast mass. Other symptoms and signs, including skin retraction, nipple inversion, nipple discharge, change in the size and contour of the breast, change in the color/texture of the skin, and enlarged axillary lymph nodes are less common in western countries.
This patient presented with a hard multinodular lump in her breast inferior to the nipple. There is visible discoloration and retraction of the overlying skin. A needle core biopsy confirmed high-grade invasive ductal carcinoma.
